Description:

Rolazin Tablet ER is used for the management of angina (heart-related chest pain). It helps prevent new attacks of angina but does not stop an acute attack once started. It relieves chest pain by making the heart work more efficiently.

Rolazin Tablet ER should be taken in the dose as advised by your doctor, at the same time each day. It can be taken with or without food to avoid stomach upset. Your doctor will decide how often you should take this medicine. This may change from time to time depending on how well it is working. You should take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit, even if you feel fine. It prevents future harm. If you stop taking it, your chest pain may come back.


You can improve the health of your heart by making some lifestyle changes, such as quitting smoking, cutting down on alcohol, eating well, taking regular exercise, and managing stress. Some common side effects of this medicine include nausea, headache, dizziness, and constipation. Communicate to your doctor if these bother you or do not go away.


Rolazin Tablet ER may not be suitable for some people. Tell your doctor if you are suffering from any liver or kidney problems. Also, let your doctor know all other medications you are using, as some may affect or be affected by this medicine. This medicine is not usually recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What are the serious side effects of Rolazin Tablet ER?

Rolazin Tablet ER may cause changes in the electrical activity of the heart, which is known as QT prolongation. Your doctor may get regular tests done to check the electrical activity of your heart. Tell your doctor right away if you feel faint or lightheaded or if your heart starts beating irregularly or fast, as these may be symptoms of QT prolongation. Rolazin Tablet ER may also cause kidney failure in patients who already have kidney problems. Therefore, your doctor may need to do tests to check how your kidneys are working.

I started taking Rolazin Tablet ER about a week ago. Now I have noticed that my urine has become very dark, though I am taking plenty of fluids. Is there anything to worry about?

Murky urine while taking Rolazin Tablet ER is not a common side effect, but it can sometimes happen. Monitor for other symptoms like yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice), severe fatigue, nausea, or unusual muscle pain. Consult your doctor as soon as possible to rule out any liver- or kidney-related issues. Check if you’re taking other medications that could cause urine discoloration, such as vitamins, antibiotics, or certain foods like beets.

In case I accidentally take an excess of Rolazin Tablet ER, what will happen?

An excess of Rolazin Tablet ER can cause nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, double vision, tiredness, severe tremor, confusion, hallucinations, difficulty in speaking and walking, and you can even faint. If you have taken an excess of Rolazin Tablet ER by mistake, call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical care in a nearby hospital.

Is it safe to take Rolazin Tablet ER if I am already taking metoprolol?

Affirmative, it is safe to take the Rolazin Tablet ER and metoprolol together. Rolazin Tablet ER has minimal effect on blood pressure in patients with angina.

I am a diabetic and am taking metformin. My doctor has prescribed Rolazin Tablet ER, is it safe to take both together?

If you are taking metformin along with Rolazin Tablet ER, you have to be careful since Rolazin Tablet ER may increase the levels of metformin in the body, which can lead to metformin toxicity. Communicate to your doctor, who will modify the dose of metformin.

I have been taking simvastatin to keep my cholesterol levels in check. Can I take Rolazin Tablet ER with it?

It is recommended not to take simvastatin and Rolazin Tablet ER together because it may cause simvastatin toxicity, which may lead to symptoms like muscle weakness and soreness, fatigue, decreased urination, etc. Let your doctor know that you are already taking simvastatin. If it is still necessary to take it, then take it exactly as advised by the doctor.
