Description:

MET XL NT TABLET is a combination of two medicines used for hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (heart-related chest pain) and chronic (long-term) heart failure. By lowering the blood pressure, it helps in preventing future heart attack and stroke.

MET XL NT TABLET can be taken with or without food, but try to have it at same time every day to get the most benefits. Retain taking it for as long as advised by your doctor. Even if you feel well, do not stop this medicine on your own because high blood pressure often has no symptoms. If you stop taking it, your condition may get worse. Retaining active with regular exercise, reducing your weight and eating a healthy diet will also help control your blood pressure. Follow your doctor’s advice while taking this medicine.

Rash, slow heart rate, headache and shortness of breath are some common side effects of this medicine. It may also cause dizziness, hence avoid driving or any attention seeking activity while taking this medicine. It is advised to avoid the intake of erectile dysfunction medicine such as sildenafil, tadalafil together with this medicine.

Earlier taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have liver or kidney disease, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. You might be asked for regular monitoring of blood pressure and blood sugar level while taking this medicine.

Directions For Use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. MET XL NT TABLET may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Alcohol
UNSAFE
Consuming alcohol while taking MET XL NT TABLET may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Pregnancy

MET XL NT TABLET may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Breast feeding
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
MET XL NT TABLET is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving
UNSAFE
MET XL NT TABLET may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
MET XL NT TABLET is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of MET XL NT TABLET is recommended.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Liver
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
MET XL NT TABLET is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of MET XL NT TABLET may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
