Description:

Vitrays Tablet is a medicine used in the treatment of vitiligo and psoriasis. It reduces the overproduction of skin cells and helps to re-pigment the discolored, white patches.

Vitrays Tablet is taken after meals in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Taking with food helps to increase absorption of the medication as well as decrease nausea. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects of Vitrays Tablet are nausea, itching, and redness of the skin. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects.

Taking this medicine makes the skin more sensitive to the sun. Employ sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Try to avoid exposure of your skin and lips to sunlight for eight hours after treatment. It is not recommended for children under the age of 14 years. Avoid eating certain foods like limes, figs, parsley, parsnips, mustard, carrots, and celery, as they may increase skin's sensitivity to light.

Directions For Use:

FAQs:

What is Vitrays Tablet used for?

Vitrays Tablet is used with ultraviolet A (UVA) light therapy to treat skin conditions like vitiligo (to increase skin pigmentation) and sometimes psoriasis. It works as a photosensitizer, making your skin more sensitive to UVA, and promoting repigmentation.

What precautions should I take before starting Vitrays Tablet?

Earlier starting Vitrays Tablet, tell your doctor if you have allergies to sunlight, eye conditions (such as cataracts), heart, liver, or kidney problems, autoimmune disorders, or a history of skin cancer. The elderly and people with stomach problems or infections should also use it with caution. Avoid foods like limes, figs, celery, parsnips, carrots, parsley, or mustard while on this medication, as they can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight.

Who should not use Vitrays Tablet?

Individuals should not use Vitrays Tablet if they are allergic to it, have porphyria, active autoimmune disease, recent or planned X-ray treatment, or are under 12 years old. It is also contraindicated in patients with a family history of allergy to sunlight or those with melanoma or other skin cancers.

Are there serious side effects of Vitrays Tablet to watch for?

Although they are rare, serious side effects of Vitrays Tablet include blistering and peeling of the skin, red or sore skin, swelling of feet or lower legs, severe sunburn, and signs of skin cancer (sores that do not heal, new or changing moles). There is a risk of premature skin aging and cataracts after prolonged use of this medicine.

Does Vitrays Tablet cause photosensitivity, and what precautions should be taken in sunlight?

Affirmative, Vitrays Tablet makes your skin extremely sensitive to sunlight and UVA. Avoid sun exposure during and for at least forty-eight hours after each dose. Wear protective clothing, use sunblock (SPF 30 or higher) on exposed skin, and protect your eyes with wraparound sunglasses that block all UVA/UVB rays.

How long should I use Vitrays Tablet, and when will I see the results?

Vitrays Tablet treatment may take several weeks to months to show benefits. Do not increase your dose or number of UVA sessions trying to speed results, as this increases the risk of burns and skin cancer. Your doctor will regularly check your progress and adjust therapy as needed.
