Description:

Scabex Ointment is a combination medicine that is used to treat scabies. It kills the tiny insects (mites) and their eggs. It also kills head lices.

Scabex Ointment should be used in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Wash your hands before using this medicine. It is advised to check the label for directions before use. Wash your hands before using this medicine. Apply only to the affected areas.

Do not use this medicine more than the recommended dose. Inform your doctor if you have known allergies from this medicine. The common side effects of this medicine include hair loss, rashes, drowsiness, headache, itching, and dry skin.

What is Scabex Ointment used for?

Scabex Ointment is used to treat scabies (a skin infestation by mites) and head lice. Lindane in Scabex Ointment acts as an insecticide, paralyzing and killing mites and lice (and their eggs), while cetrimide in Scabex Ointment is an antiseptic that soothes the skin and helps prevent secondary infections.

Who should not use Scabex Ointment?

Individuals should not use Scabex Ointment if they are allergic to any component of this medicine, are premature infants, neonates, or people with uncontrolled seizures. It is also contraindicated in patients with severely damaged skin, crusted scabies (a severe form of scabies), or severe skin diseases such as eczema or psoriasis.

How should I use Scabex Ointment?

Apply Scabex Ointment only to the affected skin or scalp, as directed by your doctor. Avoid using it on the face, eyes, mucous membranes, broken skin, or large areas. Typically, it is left on for 8 to 12 hours before being washed off thoroughly. Do not cover treated areas with tight or dark clothing, and wash your hands thoroughly after application.
