FAQs:

What is Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet used for?

Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet is prescribed to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), which is high pressure in the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the lungs. It helps relax and widen blood vessels in the lungs, making it easier for the heart to pump blood and improving your ability to breathe and exercise. It can also be prescribed to treat chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), which occurs when old blood clots block blood flow in the lungs, leading to increased pressure in the lung blood vessels.

Who should not take Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet?

Individuals should not take Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet if they are pregnant, breastfeeding, allergic to any ingredient in the medicine, have very low blood pressure, or have lung hypertension caused by idiopathic interstitial pneumonias.

Can Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet be taken with other blood-pressure or heart medicines?

No. Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet must not be used with nitrates, nitric-oxide donors, or PDE-5 inhibitors such as sildenafil or tadalafil, because the combination can cause dangerously low blood pressure or fainting. Forever tell your doctor about every medicine you take.

What serious side effects of Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet should I watch for?

Earnest side effects of Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet include severe bleeding (such as coughing up blood), extremely low blood pressure, dizziness, fainting, or signs of lung bleeding. Get medical help right away if you notice any of these.

Can Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet increase the risk of bleeding?

Affirmative. People with pulmonary hypertension already have a higher bleeding risk, and Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet can make this worse, especially if you take blood thinners. Notify your doctor immediately if you experience nosebleeds, coughing up blood, or unusual bruising.

Is Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet safe for patients who have had lung bleeding before?

No. Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet should be avoided in patients who have a history of serious hemoptysis (coughing up blood) or those who have had bronchial-artery embolization, because they are at high risk for severe or fatal bleeding.

Can Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet cause low blood pressure?

Affirmative. Because Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet works by relaxing blood vessels, it can sometimes lower blood pressure too much, leading to dizziness or fainting. Your doctor may adjust your dose if you already have low blood pressure or are taking other blood-pressure-lowering medicines.

Does cigarette smoking affect how Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet works?

Affirmative. Smoking reduces Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet levels in the body by about 50 to 60 percent, making it less effective. If you smoke, your doctor may need to change your dose or, better yet, help you quit.

Can people with liver or kidney disease use Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet?

Rioteph 0.5mg Tablet is not recommended for people with severe liver problems (Child-Pugh C) or severe kidney impairment (creatinine clearance < 15 mL/min). These conditions can cause the medicine to build up in the body and increase side-effect risks.
