Description:

Radcal 500mg Tablet is used for the management of angina (heart-related chest pain). It helps prevent new attacks of angina but does not stop an acute attack once started. It relieves chest pain by making the heart work more efficiently.

Radcal 500mg Tablet should be taken in the dose as advised by your doctor, at the same time each day. It can be taken with or without food to avoid stomach upset. Your doctor will decide how often you should take this medicine. This may change from time to time depending on how well it is working. You should take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit, even if you feel fine. It prevents future harm. If you stop taking it, your chest pain may come back.


You can improve the health of your heart by making some lifestyle changes, such as quitting smoking, cutting down on alcohol, eating well, taking regular exercise, and managing stress. Some common side effects of this medicine include nausea, headache, dizziness, and constipation. Communicate to your doctor if these bother you or do not go away.


Radcal 500mg Tablet may not be suitable for some people. Tell your doctor if you are suffering from any liver or kidney problems. Also, let your doctor know all other medications you are using, as some may affect or be affected by this medicine. This medicine is not usually recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What are the serious side effects of Radcal 500mg Tablet?

Radcal 500mg Tablet may cause changes in the electrical activity of the heart, which is known as QT prolongation. Your doctor may get regular tests done to check the electrical activity of your heart. Tell your doctor right away if you feel faint or lightheaded or if your heart starts beating irregularly or fast, as these may be symptoms of QT prolongation. Radcal 500mg Tablet may also cause kidney failure in patients who already have kidney problems. Therefore, your doctor may need to do tests to check how your kidneys are working.

I started taking Radcal 500mg Tablet about a week ago. Now I have noticed that my urine has become very dark, though I am taking plenty of fluids. Is there anything to worry about?

Murky urine while taking Radcal 500mg Tablet is not a common side effect, but it can sometimes happen. Monitor for other symptoms like yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice), severe fatigue, nausea, or unusual muscle pain. Consult your doctor as soon as possible to rule out any liver- or kidney-related issues. Check if you’re taking other medications that could cause urine discoloration, such as vitamins, antibiotics, or certain foods like beets.

In case I accidentally take an excess of Radcal 500mg Tablet, what will happen?

If you have taken an excess of Radcal 500mg Tablet by mistake, call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical care in a nearby hospital.

Is it safe to take Radcal 500mg Tablet if I am already taking metoprolol?

Affirmative, it is safe to take the Radcal 500mg Tablet and metoprolol together. Radcal 500mg Tablet has minimal effect on blood pressure in patients with angina.

I am a diabetic and am taking metformin. My doctor has prescribed Radcal 500mg Tablet, is it safe to take both together?

If you are taking metformin along with Radcal 500mg Tablet, you have to be careful since Radcal 500mg Tablet may increase the levels of metformin in the body, which can lead to metformin toxicity. Communicate to your doctor, who will modify the dose of metformin.

I have been taking simvastatin to keep my cholesterol levels in check. Can I take Radcal 500mg Tablet with it?

It is recommended not to take simvastatin and Radcal 500mg Tablet together because it may cause simvastatin toxicity, which may lead to symptoms like muscle weakness and soreness, fatigue, decreased urination, etc. Let your doctor know that you are already taking simvastatin. If it is still necessary to take it, then take it exactly as advised by the doctor.
