FAQs:

What is Pio Rectal Ointment used for?

Pio Rectal Ointment is used to treat hemorrhoids (piles) and anal fissures (small tears in the anal lining). It provides relief from symptoms like pain, itching, bleeding, and discomfort associated with these conditions.

Can Pio Rectal Ointment be used inside the anus or only on the outside?

Pio Rectal Ointment is formulated for application on the external anal area, and just inside the anal canal. Check the product package for any special applicator to help you apply the medicine gently and hygienically to internal hemorrhoids or fissures. Otherwise, clean and dry your finger, and use it.

How quickly will I feel relief after using Pio Rectal Ointment?

You can expect to feel relief from pain and itching within minutes of applying Pio Rectal Ointment due to the numbing effect of cinchocaine present in it. However, the healing of the fissure, or hemorrhoid, promoted by policresulen, may take several days to weeks of consistent use.

Will Pio Rectal Ointment help with the pain I feel during a bowel movement?

Affirmative, applying Pio Rectal Ointment about 15 to 20 minutes before a bowel movement can help numb the area, making it significantly less painful and more comfortable to pass bowel movements.

My doctor prescribed Pio Rectal Ointment after my hemorrhoid surgery. Why?

Pio Rectal Ointment is often used post-surgery to manage pain from the incision, prevent the surgical wound from getting infected, and promote tissue regeneration in the rectal area.

Will Pio Rectal Ointment stop the bleeding from my hemorrhoids?

Affirmative, one of the key benefits of Pio Rectal Ointment is its hemostatic (bleeding-control) action. It works by constricting the small, damaged blood vessels in the hemorrhoid, which helps to stop bleeding and oozing.

Should I stop using Pio Rectal Ointment once the pain and bleeding are gone?

No, it is important to complete the full course of Pio Rectal Ointment treatment as prescribed by your doctor. Even if the symptoms disappear, the underlying fissure or hemorrhoid may not have fully healed. Stopping early could cause the problem to return.

Is Pio Rectal Ointment effective for infected or inflamed hemorrhoids?

Affirmative, the antiseptic properties of Pio Rectal Ointment help to kill harmful bacteria and fungi, which prevents or treats infection, and reduces inflammation.
