Description:

P 250 Suspension 60 ml belongs to the group of medicines called analgesics (pain killers), and antipyretics (fever-reducing agents) used to reduce fever and treat mild to moderate pain. In children, it treats conditions like headache, toothache, body ache, fever, and common cold.

Pain and fever are caused by the activation of pain receptors due to the release of certain natural chemicals in the body like prostaglandin.P 250 Suspension 60 ml works by inhibiting the production of certain chemical messengers in the brain known as prostaglandins. Thus, reduces pain. Also, P 250 Suspension 60 ml affects an area of the brain that regulates body temperature known as the hypothalamic heat-regulating centre. Thereby, it reduces fever.

P 250 Suspension is given orally preferably at a fixed time every day. Though this medicine can be taken before or after food, it is best given after food as it can irritate the inner lining of an empty stomach. The dose and duration will depend upon your child’s age, body weight, and severity of the infection, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by your child’s doctor. 

Do not give your child P 250 Suspension along with other medicines (many cold and flu medicines and other painkillers) that contain paracetamol, as this may result in overdosing and cause dangerous side effects such as hepatotoxicity (liver damage). Always check the ingredients of any other medicines before giving them to your child in combination with this medicine.

Side Effects:

Side effects of P 250mg Suspension include liver injury, allergic reactions on skin, worsening of asthma, reduced white blood cell levels and decreased platelets.
P 250 Suspension does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. P 250 Suspension should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of P 250 Suspension may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
