Description:

P-120 Paediatric Oral Suspension 60 ml belongs to the group of medicines called analgesics (pain killers), and antipyretics (fever-reducing agents) used to reduce fever and treat mild to moderate pain.In children, it treats conditions like headache, toothache, body ache, fever, and common cold.

Paracetamol works by inhibiting the production of a chemical called prostaglandins in the body which is responsible for causing pain and swelling. It reduces fever by affecting an area of the brain that is responsible for regulating our body temperature called hypothalamic heat-regulating centre.

Always give P 120 Suspension to your child exactly as advised by your child’s doctor. Shake well before use. Do not exceed the daily recommended dosages. It is not recommended for use P 120 Suspension in children who weigh less than 4kg, were born before 37 weeks of gestation, or have allergy to paracetamol. Before giving P 120 Suspension to your child, inform the doctor if he/she has liver, kidney diseases or sugar intolerance.

Uses:

It is used in children to treat and relieve:

  • Mild to moderate pain such as headache, migraine, nerve pain, toothache and teething pains, sore throat, rheumatic aches and pains, influenza
  • Fever, including post-vaccination fever.

Directions For Use:

Always give P 120 Suspension to your child exactly as advised by your child’s doctor. Shake well before use. Do not exceed the daily recommended dosages. It is not recommended for use P 120 Suspension in children who weigh less than 4kg, were born before 37 weeks of gestation, or have allergy to paracetamol. Before giving P 120 Suspension to your child, inform the doctor if he/she has liver, kidney diseases or sugar intolerance. Take the suggested dose by mouth using the measuring cup/dosing syringe/dropper provided by the pack.

Side Effects:

P 120 Suspension does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Consult your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or bother your child.Consult a doctor if your child experience any unusual symptoms such as such as allergic reaction, swelling in legs, arms, face, throat or tongue, difficulty in breathing, swallowing, rashes, etc while taking this medicine. The most common side effects include-
Indigestion

  • Stomach pain
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting

 

Warning & Precautions:

Avoid taking P-120 Paediatric Suspension 60 ml if allergic to it. P-120 Paediatric Suspension 60 ml is not recommended for children below 6 years of age. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a physician before using P-120 Paediatric Suspension 60 ml. Avoid alcohol consumption with P-120 Paediatric Suspension 60 ml as it may increase the risk of liver damage. If you have an impaired nutritional state caused by anorexia (eating disorder), wrong nutrition or alcohol abuse or if you are dehydrated, inform your doctor before taking P-120 Paediatric Suspension 60 ml. Avoid taking more than recommended doses as it may increase the risk of serious liver damage.

Do not give your child P 120 Suspension along with other medicines (many cold and flu medicines and other painkillers) that contain paracetamol, as this may result in overdosing and cause dangerous side effects such as hepatotoxicity (liver damage). Always check the ingredients of any other medicines before giving them to your child in combination with this medicine.

This medicine is often considered safe and effective but may not be suitable for everybody. Inform your doctor if your child is undergoing treatment for any blood-related disorder, is allergic to any medicinal compound, or has any birth defects, liver impairment, or kidney dysfunction. P 120 Suspension should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of P 120 Suspension may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver

P 120 Suspension should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of P 120 Suspension may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, the use of P 120 Suspension is not recommended in children with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
