Description:

Olumiant 4mg Tablet is used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. It helps decrease pain, tenderness, and swelling in the joints by reducing inflammation. It also helps slow the progression of bone and joint damage.

Olumiant 4mg Tablet may be prescribed alone or in combination with another drug. It can be taken with or without food, but it is best to take it at the same time each day. Your dose will depend on your condition and what other medicines you are taking. You should use it as your doctor tells you to. Don’t stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to because your condition could get worse.


The most common side effects of Olumiant 4mg Tablet include throat and nose infections, nausea, and viral infection. You may also get cold sores, feel sick, or have symptoms of a cold, like a stuffy nose, sneezing, and a sore throat. If you have any worries about side effects, talk to your doctor.


Earlier starting Olumiant 4mg Tablet, your doctor may advise blood tests, and you should not take Olumiant 4mg Tablet if you have an active infection. Inform your doctor if you ever have tuberculosis, shingles, kidney or liver disease, hepatitis B or C, or blood clots in your legs or lungs.


Olumiant 4mg Tablet can increase your risk of infections or worsen existing ones, so avoid contact with people who have contagious illnesses like chickenpox, measles, or flu. This medicine is not suitable for children under 18 years old. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, use it only if your doctor believes the benefits outweigh the risks. Regular check-ups with your doctor may be necessary while on this treatment.

Directions For Use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Olumiant 4mg Tablet may be taken with or without food.

Can I take Olumiant 4mg Tablet if I have liver problems?

Inform your doctor if you have liver problems before starting Olumiant 4mg Tablet. This is done because, in some cases, Olumiant 4mg Tablet may cause an increase in liver enzymes. Although Olumiant 4mg Tablet can be given to patients with mild to moderate liver function impairment, it should not be prescribed to patients with severe liver impairment.

You may need to get your blood tests done before you start Olumiant 4mg Tablet or while taking it. Blood tests are done to check if you have a low red blood cell count (anemia), low white blood cell count (neutropenia or lymphopenia), high blood fat (cholesterol), or high levels of liver enzymes. It also helps to ensure that treatment with Olumiant 4mg Tablet is not causing problems. In addition to this, your doctor may advise you to get tested for tuberculosis before starting Olumiant 4mg Tablet, as using this medicine may make an existing infection worse.
