FAQs:

What is Nor-TZ Tablet and what is it used for?

Nor-TZ Tablet is a combination of two medicines: norfloxacin and tinidazole. This medication is used to treat diarrhea and dysentery. It works by killing harmful microorganisms responsible for the infection. Together, they help treat the infection more effectively.

Can I stop taking Nor-TZ Tablet when my symptoms are relieved?

No. Do not stop taking Nor-TZ Tablet. Total the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.

Can Nor-TZ Tablet increase the risk of tendon rupture?

Affirmative, Nor-TZ Tablet is known to increase the risk of tendon rupture, most commonly affecting the Achilles tendon. Tendon problems can occur in people of all ages who take Nor-TZ Tablet, but the risk is higher in older adults, people taking steroids, or those with kidney disease. Inform your healthcare provider immediately if you hear or feel a snap or pop, experience severe pain, notice rapid or immediate bruising after an injury, or are unable to use the affected arm or leg. These symptoms may indicate a tendon rupture.

Can using Nor-TZ Tablet cause a metallic taste?

Affirmative, it can cause a temporary metallic taste. Chewing sugar-free gum or mints, brushing your teeth after meals, and staying well hydrated may help.

Are there any specific contraindications to using Nor-TZ Tablet?

Nor-TZ Tablet should not be used in patients with a known allergy to norfloxacin, tinidazole, or any other excipient in the formulation. It should preferably be avoided in patients with a history of tendinitis or tendon rupture related to ciprofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics. It is also generally avoided in patients with certain neurological disorders (such as a history of seizures).

Can I drink alcohol while taking Nor-TZ Tablet?

No. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Nor-TZ Tablet and for at least 3 days after completing the course. Consuming alcohol may cause a disulfiram-like reaction, with symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, flushing, or redness of the face.

Can I take ORS solution with Nor-TZ Tablet?

Affirmative, you can take ORS (oral rehydration salts) with Nor-TZ Tablet. ORS is a special combination of salts mixed with clean drinking water that helps restore fluids lost due to diarrhea.

Can I take a higher dose than the recommended?

No. Taking more than the recommended dose of Nor-TZ Tablet can increase the risk of side effects. The medicine takes time to fully take effect and treat the infection. If your diarrhea worsens or does not improve with the recommended dose, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.

Can Nor-TZ Tablet be taken with antacids?

Avoid taking antacids containing magnesium or aluminum at the same time as Nor-TZ Tablet. These minerals can bind to the antibiotic, reducing its absorption and potentially decreasing its effectiveness. Your doctor will usually advise taking antacids at least 2 hours before or after your antibiotic dose.

Does Nor-TZ Tablet affect kidney function?

Nor-TZ Tablet is primarily eliminated through the kidneys. It is generally safe in people with normal kidney function. However, in elderly patients or those with known kidney impairment, the doctor may need to carefully adjust the dose. Staying well hydrated by drinking plenty of water while taking this medication is important.

How quickly does Nor-TZ Tablet work?

Most patients begin to notice improvement in stomach symptoms within 24 to 48 hours of starting Nor-TZ Tablet. However, even if you feel better quickly, the infection may not be completely cleared. You must complete the entire prescribed course to prevent recurrence or antibiotic resistance.
