Description:

NORflox 400 Tablet helps treat bacterial infections, especially urinary tract infections. It works by killing the microorganisms that cause the infection. It also restores the balance of good bacteria in the intestine. This balance may be disturbed by antibiotic use or infections.

NORflox 400 Tablet should be taken on an empty stomach. Take it at least 1 hour before or at least 2 hours after a meal. Take it regularly at evenly spaced intervals as prescribed by your doctor. The dose and duration of treatment may depend on the type and severity of the infection. Do not stop taking it until you complete the full course, even if you feel better. If you stop taking this medicine too early, the bacteria may continue to grow. Thus, the infection may return or worsen.

The common side effects of this medicine are dizziness, nausea, headache, and abdominal cramps. These effects are usually mild and may go away as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, if you experience any symptoms that do not go away or get worse, let your doctor know.

Earlier using it, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any antibiotics or have kidney or liver problems. You should also inform your doctor if you have experienced tendon problems (such as tendinitis or tendon rupture) related to norfloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, as they may interact with this medicine. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using it.

Directions For Use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. NORflox 400 Tablet is to be taken on an empty stomach.

FAQs:

What is NORflox 400 Tablet, and what is it used for?

NORflox 400 Tablet is a combination of norfloxacin (an antibiotic) and lactobacillus (a probiotic). It helps treat bacterial infections of the urinary tract (cystitis, prostate infections). It may also be prescribed to treat infections of the skin, soft tissues, throat, and respiratory tract, as well as sexually transmitted diseases.

Is NORflox 400 Tablet safe to use for urinary tract infections (UTIs)?

Affirmative, NORflox 400 Tablet is used for the treatment of acute, uncomplicated, complicated, chronic, and recurrent urinary tract infections. It is recommended to take NORflox 400 Tablet only after consulting your doctor.

Why is a probiotic (Lactobacillus) added to NORflox 400 Tablet?

Norfloxacin is an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria. However, it can also disturb the good bacteria in your gut. This can cause diarrhea and digestive upset. Lactobacillus is added to replenish beneficial bacteria, restore gut balance, and prevent antibiotic-associated diarrhea. When prescribed for traveler’s diarrhea, the addition of Lactobacillus helps maintain gut microbial balance.

Can NORflox 400 Tablet treat stomach infections, diarrhea, and loose motions?

Affirmative, NORflox 400 Tablet may help treat diarrhea and loose stools if caused by bacterial infections. Norfloxacin targets and kills susceptible bacteria. Lactobacillus helps replenish healthy gut bacteria, which may support recovery. If diarrhea persists or you notice symptoms such as a high fever or blood in your stools, consult your doctor.

Should I complete the full course of NORflox 400 Tablet even if I feel better?

Affirmative. Total the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve. Stopping it early may allow some bacteria to survive. This leads to infection recurrence and contributes to antibiotic resistance (making it less effective in the future).

Should NORflox 400 Tablet be taken on an empty stomach or after meals for best results?

NORflox 400 Tablet is better absorbed when taken on an empty stomach. Take at least 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after. Food containing minerals such as calcium may reduce the amount of antibiotics absorbed into the body.

Can I take NORflox 400 Tablet with milk, curd, yogurt, or other dairy products?

It is usually recommended not to take NORflox 400 Tablet with milk or other dairy products. Dairy products contain calcium, which can bind to norfloxacin and reduce its absorption. This makes it less effective. Take it at least 1 hour before consuming milk, curd, yogurt, or other dairy products, or at least 2 hours after.

What should I do if my infection does not improve after completing the NORflox 400 Tablet course?

Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve, worsen, or return after completing the course. Possible reasons include antibiotic resistance, viral infection, or another underlying condition that may require a different treatment approach. Restarting or changing antibiotics without medical advice is not recommended.

Can I take antacids or iron supplements with NORflox 400 Tablet?

Employ caution when taking antacids or supplements containing iron, zinc, magnesium, or aluminum along with norfloxacin. These substances can interfere with the absorption of NORflox 400 Tablet and reduce its effectiveness. Do not take them within 2 hours before or after taking NORflox 400 Tablet. Check with your doctor before combining these products.

Does NORflox 400 Tablet interact with my diabetes medication or blood sugar levels?

In rare cases, NORflox 400 Tablet has been associated with changes in blood sugar levels. Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) has been observed after taking NORflox 400 Tablet, particularly in people with diabetes. If you have symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, confusion, or unusual weakness, monitor your blood glucose levels closely and consult your doctor.

Is NORflox 400 Tablet safe during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

NORflox 400 Tablet is generally not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly needed, as animal studies have shown potential harmful effects on the developing fetus. It is also not recommended for breastfeeding mothers. Due to limited safety data, its use during pregnancy or lactation requires careful medical assessment of potential risks and benefits. NORflox 400 Tablet is generally not recommended during pregnancy due to limited safety information. It should be used only if your doctor prescribes it. During breastfeeding, it is not known whether the medicine passes into breast milk. In both situations, always take this medicine only on medical advice to ensure it is safe for you and your baby.

How much water should I drink while on NORflox 400 Tablet?

Keep adequate hydration (2–3 liters per day). Drinking sufficient fluids helps prevent dehydration and supports recovery. Proper hydration may also reduce the risk of certain side effects of the medication. Oral rehydration solutions may be helpful in cases of significant fluid loss.

Is NORflox 400 Tablet safe for patients with a history of tendon problems?

Tolerants with a history of tendon problems should use NORflox 400 Tablet with caution. This medicine can occasionally affect tendons, most commonly the Achilles tendon. Inform your doctor about any previous tendon issues so they can weigh the benefits and risks and choose the safest option for you.
