Description:

Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER is a combination medicine used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by relaxing the blood vessels and making the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. It also removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body.

Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER can be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It makes you lose excess water through urine, hence try to take it at day time or 4 hours before bedtime to avoid frequent urination at night. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you.

Nausea, taste change, diarrhea and stomach upset are some common side effects of this medicine. Regular monitoring of kidney function and electrolytes is important while using this medicine. This medicine should be used along with lifestyle changes like a healthy diet, regular exercise and smoking cessation for best results. You are advised to drink plenty of fluids to overcome mouth dryness and extreme thirst.

Earlier taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are pregnant if you have ever had any problems with your blood circulation or have liver or kidney problems. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Side Effects:

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER.
Pregnancy

Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
Breast feeding
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving
UNSAFE
Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
CAUTION
Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Employ of Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER is not recommended in these patients.
Liver
CAUTION
Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Employ of Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
