Description:

Mefilong-P Suspension is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It helps relieve pain and inflammation (redness and swelling) in both infants and children. It works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger that is known to cause fever, pain, and inflammation.

Follow the prescribed dose, timing, and method when giving Mefilong-P Suspension to your child. Donate it orally, preferably after food, to reduce the chance of stomach upset. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again. Do not give more than the recommended dose for faster relief, as this may cause unwanted side effects in your child.

Your child may exhibit side effects like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn, and diarrhea after taking this medicine. These side effects are temporary and are likely to subside once your child's body adapts to the medicine. In case they persist or become bothersome for your child, do consult your child's doctor on a priority basis.

Earlier administering Mefilong-P Suspension to your child, inform the doctor if your child is allergic to any medicine or products or has a history of any heart problems, birth defects, liver disease, kidney disease, lung disease, or bleeding disorder. This information is critical for dose alteration and helps in planning your child's overall treatment.

FAQs:

What is Mefilong-P Suspension and what is it used for?

Mefilong-P Suspension is a pain-relief medicine that contains mefenamic acid, which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and inflammation, including menstrual cramps, toothache, muscle pain, joint pain, and other short-term painful conditions. The medicine works by reducing certain chemicals in the body that cause pain and swelling. Mefilong-P Suspension helps relieve symptoms but does not treat the underlying cause of pain and should be used only as prescribed by a doctor.

What are the common side effects of Mefilong-P Suspension?

Some people may experience side effects such as stomach pain, acidity, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or dizziness while taking Mefilong-P Suspension. These effects occur because medicines in this group can irritate the stomach lining. In some cases, people may develop a rash or swelling as a sign of an allergic reaction. Limitedly, the medicine may cause stomach bleeding. Perceivek medical attention immediately if you notice black stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain, or swelling.

Can Mefilong-P Suspension affect the kidneys or liver?

Mefilong-P Suspension may affect the kidneys if taken repeatedly, in high doses, or during dehydration. The risk is higher in older adults and people with kidney disease or high blood pressure. It may affect the liver and increase liver enzymes, but when used as prescribed for a short time, it is generally safe. You must consult your doctor if you notice swelling, reduced urination, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Should Mefilong-P Suspension be taken with food?

Affirmative, Mefilong-P Suspension is usually recommended to be taken with food or after meals. Taking it with food can help reduce stomach irritation, acidity, nausea, or discomfort that may occur when the medicine is taken on an empty stomach. Avoid taking multiple pain medicines together unless your doctor advises it, and consult your doctor if you have a history of stomach ulcers or severe acidity.

How much Mefilong-P Suspension suspension should I give to my child?

The correct dose of Mefilong-P Suspension suspension for a child should always be determined by a doctor. The dose depends on the child’s body weight, age, and medical condition. Forever follow the dosing schedule prescribed by your child’s doctor to ensure the medicine is safe and effective.

Can I change the dose of Mefilong-P Suspension suspension for my child on my own?

No, you should not increase or decrease the dose of Mefilong-P Suspension suspension without consulting a doctor. Increasing the dose may increase the risk of side effects or toxicity, while lowering the dose may reduce the medicine’s effectiveness and cause symptoms to return. If you believe the dose needs adjustment, discuss it with your child’s doctor.

Can all children receive the same dose of Mefilong-P Suspension suspension?

No, the same dose should not be given to all children. The correct dose varies depending on the child’s age, body weight, and medical condition. As children grow, the appropriate dose may also change. Forever follow your doctor’s instructions and never give this medicine to another child without medical advice.

When will my child start feeling better after taking Mefilong-P Suspension?

After starting Mefilong-P Suspension, the medicine may begin reducing pain or fever within a short time, although your child may need to take it for several days depending on the condition. Continue giving the medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If your child does not improve or continues to feel unwell even after completing the recommended course, consult your child’s doctor.

Are there any serious side effects of Mefilong-P Suspension in children?

Mefilong-P Suspension is generally well tolerated in most children when used in the correct dose. However, seek medical attention immediately if your child develops persistent vomiting, swelling of the body, decreased urination, signs of an allergic reaction such as rash or breathing difficulty, or severe stomach pain that may indicate stomach irritation or ulcers.

How should Mefilong-P Suspension suspension be stored?

Mefilong-P Suspension suspension should be stored at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct heat and sunlight. Make sure the bottle is tightly closed after use. Also, keep it out of the sight and reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion.

Can Mefilong-P Suspension suspension be given to children with dengue or COVID-19 fever?

Mefilong-P Suspension suspension should not be used for fever associated with dengue because it may interfere with blood clotting and increase the risk of bleeding. It is also not usually recommended for COVID-19 unless advised by a doctor. In these situations, doctors often recommend other fever-reducing medicines that are considered safer.

Should Mefilong-P Suspension be stopped before a dental or surgical procedure?

If your child is scheduled for a dental extraction or surgical procedure, the doctor may advise stopping Mefilong-P Suspension a few days beforehand to reduce the risk of bleeding during the procedure. Forever follow the instructions given by your doctor or dentist.

Can other medicines be given with Mefilong-P Suspension suspension?

Mefilong-P Suspension suspension may interact with some other medicines. Earlier starting treatment, inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, or herbal products your child is taking. Forever check with your child’s doctor before giving any additional medicine at the same time.
