Description:

Liprax 25mg Tablet SR is a medicine used in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), phobic states (such as intense fears that interfere with daily life), and depression. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a natural chemical in the brain that affects mood and behavior.

Take Liprax 25mg Tablet SR exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose is usually started low and increased gradually to reduce side effects. It may take a few weeks before you notice the full benefits, so it is important not to stop taking it suddenly, even if you feel better. For best results, take the medicine at the same time every day and try not to miss any doses.

Ordinary side effects of Liprax 25mg Tablet SR include dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, increased sweating, and changes in appetite or weight. These are often mild and may improve as your body gets used to the medicine. If you feel very drowsy, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor promptly.

Liprax 25mg Tablet SR should be used with caution in people with heart disease, seizure disorders, glaucoma, or difficulty passing urine. This medicine can increase the risk of suicidal thoughts in some people, especially young adults; therefore, close monitoring at the start of treatment is important.

Liprax 25mg Tablet SR should not be taken together with medicines called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or within two weeks of stopping them, due to the risk of serious reactions. Alcohol should be avoided as it can worsen drowsiness and other side effects. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctors before taking this medicine to make sure it is safe.

Directions For Use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Liprax 25mg Tablet SR should be taken with or after food.

FAQs:

What is Liprax 25mg Tablet SR and what does it treat?

Liprax 25mg Tablet SR is a tricyclic antidepressant used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobic states, and depression (when sedation is helpful). It is often prescribed when obsessive thoughts, intense fears, or depressed mood interfere with daily life.

How long before I notice improvement?

Some people may notice early improvements in a few weeks, but meaningful benefit for OCD or depression often takes 6–12 weeks, and full effects can take longer. Steady drug levels may take 1–3 weeks after dose changes. Continue taking it for as long as prescribed and do not stop it suddenly.

How should I take it?

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribes. Treatment usually starts at a low dose and is increased gradually to reduce side effects. Take doses with meals if advised; this will help reduce upset stomach. Take it at the same time each day and ensure to attend all follow-up visits so your doctor can review your dose and response.

Are there any serious risks I should know about?

Affirmative. Liprax 25mg Tablet SR may cause seizures, heart rhythm problems, and can increase suicidal thoughts in young people early in treatment. Do not use it with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping them due to the risk of life-threatening serotonin syndrome. Get urgent help for new suicidal thoughts, fainting, chest pain, severe heartbeat changes, or signs of serotonin syndrome like high fever, stiff muscles, or confusion.
