Description:

Kofarest-PD Drop comprises three active ingredients that together help treat wet cough (cough with mucus), acute sore throat and asthma in children. It also relieves throat irritation, clears congestion, and enables easy breathing in your child.

Kofarest-PD Drop makes it easier for your child to cough out the mucus by increasing its water content and making it thin enough to be coughed out. Donate this medicine to your child by mouth with or without food along with a full glass of water. If your child develops an upset stomach, prefer giving it with food.

You may require to give this medicine to your child for a few days to weeks, depending upon the severity of the infection. For maximum benefit, do not stop the medication abruptly by yourself even if your child starts to feel better and continue the medicine until the full prescribed course. Do not give more than the prescribed dose for fast relief as it may cause unwanted effects and worsen your child’s condition.

Some of the common side effects of this medicine include excessive production of saliva, fatigue, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, rash, tremors, and numbness or tingling sensation in the hands or feet. Usually, these episodes subside once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if these effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to your child’s doctor immediately.

Narrate your child’s complete medical history, including any previous episode of respiratory illness, allergy, heart-problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, sinus issues, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a marked dropper and take it as directed. Kofarest-PD Drop may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

However, prolonged use may impact kidney function in your child. Discuss with your child’s doctor thoroughly before giving the medicine. It is not recommended in children with severe kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Kofarest-PD Drop should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Kofarest-PD Drop may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Can I give Kofarest-PD Drop to my child who is less than 6 years of age?

Affirmative, Kofarest-PD Drop is suitable to be given to the child who is between 2 to 6 years of age. Your child’s doctor may prescribe the dose depending upon your child’s body weight.

What if my child takes too much Kofarest-PD Drop?

An overdose or a prolonged intake of Kofarest-PD Drop may cause serious side effects like seizures, rapid heart rate, excess salivation. Make sure to give this medicine to your child strictly as per the prescribed dose, time, and way. You must also ensure not to stop the medicine abruptly even if your child starts to feel better. Kofarest-PD Drop should be stored at room temperature, in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Also, keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children to avoid any mishap.

My child has a severe cough. Can I give him two cough medicines together?
