Description:

Kidpred Syrup belongs to a class of medicines called steroids. It helps treat certain types of allergies, inflammatory conditions, autoimmune disorders, hormonal disorders, and even cancer in children. It is also the treatment of choice after organ transplantation and for Nephrotic syndrome in children.

Donate Kidpred Syrup to your child with food. The usually prescribed frequency is once daily, preferably in the morning after breakfast. The dose of this medication will depend on your child’s clinical condition, body weight, age, and treatment response. Employ Kidpred Syrup only for the recommended duration of time. Do not prolong its use, more than recommended as that may lead to increased side effects. Also, do not stop giving this medicine suddenly. Sudden withdrawal may affect the ongoing treatment and the child may exhibit withdrawal symptoms such as dizziness, vomiting, and thirst. The dose needs to be gradually reduced before stopping it completely. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking Kidpred Syrup, let the child calm down, and then give the same dose again.

The most common side effects associated with the use of Kidpred Syrup include increased appetite, weight gain, increased blood pressure, and behavioral and mood changes. Many of these usually go away once the treatment is stopped. However, in case these persist or start bothering your child, consult your child’s doctor without any delay. Taking Kidpred Syrup can also make it harder for your child to fight off infections. Tell the doctor if your child shows any signs of infection such as fever or sore throat.

Never practice self-medication, always consult your child’s doctor for advice. Your child’s doctor must be aware of your child’s entire medical history, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. Having an insight into your child’s overall health will help. This will guide the doctor in planning your child’s overall treatment.

Kidpred Syrup increases the corticosteroids levels in the body which helps in treating various illnesses involving inflammation (redness, tenderness, heat, and swelling).

Are there any serious side effects while my child is on Kidpred Syrup?

We use medicines to make our children better, but sometimes they may cause some unwanted side effects. However, the occurrence of side effects in the case of short-term use is not commonly observed. Side effects are more likely to appear in case of high dose, increased dose, or any long-term use. The doctor will use the lowest possible dose for as little time as possible to avoid side effects.

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Kidpred Syrup?

Kidpred Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Inform your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Kidpred Syrup. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Kidpred Syrup?

It is advised not to get your child vaccinated while they are on treatment with Kidpred Syrup. Let your child recover from the ongoing illness and finish the complete course of the medicine. As soon as a child feels better, even if he or she is on antibiotics, the vaccine can be given after consulting the doctor.

In what conditions should I avoid giving Kidpred Syrup to my child?

Avoid giving Kidpred Syrup if your child has certain health conditions. These include cardiac disease or congestive heart failure (unless there is active rheumatic carditis), high blood pressure (hypertension), blood clotting disorders (thromboembolic disorders), or diabetes mellitus. Can Kidpred Syrup cause any behavioral problems?

One of the potential side effects of corticosteroid medicine is mood change, such as irritability. This can lead to difficult behavior in some children. When used for the short term, it can increase blood pressure and blood sugar levels, causing some children to become hyperactive. For this reason, it is always recommended to give Kidpred Syrup in the morning, so there is less impact on sleep.
