Description:

Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR belongs to a category of medicines known as anti-diabetic drugs. It is a combination of two medicines used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It helps control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.

Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR should be taken with food. Take it regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit. Your doctor will decide what dose is best for you and this may change from time to time according to how it is working according to your blood sugar levels

Uses:

Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Glimepiride and Metformin.Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Metformin is a biguanide which works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

  • You should continue to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines along with Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR.

Warning & Precautions:

If you are allergic to Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet  or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet  is not recommended for children. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet  as it may be excreted in human milk. If you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy, please inform your doctor before taking Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet  as it may harm the unborn baby. Avoid alcohol consumption with Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet  as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis (accumulation of lactic acid in the body). Drive only if you are alert after taking Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet. Take short, frequent meals and avoid prolonged fasting while taking Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet. Beware of symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) which include sweating, dizziness, palpitations, shivering, intense thirst, dry mouth, dry skin, frequent urination, etc. Whenever you experience any of these symptoms, immediately consume 5-6 candies or 3 glucose biscuits, or 3 teaspoons of honey/sugar, and also consult your doctor. Make sure to carry these with you at all times, especially during long travels.

Driving

Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.

Liver

Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

Alcohol

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR.

Pregnancy

Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet PR may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding
