Description:

Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet is a combination of three medicines used to lower blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is generally prescribed when diet, exercise, and other treatments do not result in adequate glycemic control.

Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet is best taken with food; however, take this medicine regularly and at the same time each day to get maximum benefits. The dose and duration are decided according to your condition and how well you respond to it. The doctor may also monitor your blood sugar levels regularly when you are taking this combination medicine.

Retain taking this medicine even if you feel well or your blood sugar levels are controlled. If stopped abruptly, your blood sugar levels could rise and put you at risk of complications. This medication is only part of a treatment program that should also include a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight reduction because lifestyle habits play a big part in controlling diabetes.

The most common side effects of Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet include nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal disturbances, and hypoglycemia. Let your doctor know if any of these side effects do not go away or get worse. They may be able to help by adjusting the dosage or by prescribing an alternate medicine.

You should not take Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet if you have type 1 diabetes mellitus or acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis. Tolerants with active bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer should also not take this medicine. Inform your doctor about all the other medicines that you take as some of them can affect or be affected by this medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctors before taking it.

FAQs:

What is Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet used for in diabetes?

Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet and exercise alone or along with other blood sugar-lowering medicines aren’t enough to control blood sugar. It helps lower blood sugar levels, improve insulin response, and reduce the risk of complications from long-term diabetes.

When should I take Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet?

Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet should be taken once or twice daily with meals, depending on your doctor's prescription. Taking the medicine with food reduces the chance of stomach upset and lowers the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

Can I take Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet if I have kidney or liver issues?

No. Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet is not recommended for patients with severe kidney or liver problems, as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, low blood sugar, or medication buildup in the body. Your doctor will assess kidney function before prescribing.

Are there any side effects of Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet?

The common side effects of Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet may include nausea, upset stomach, diarrhea, or constipation, headache, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), weight gain, etc. If you experience severe side effects like difficulty breathing, chest pain, or signs of lactic acidosis (e.g., muscle pain, weakness, or dizziness), contact your doctor immediately.

Can I drink alcohol while taking Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet?

How long does it take for Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet to work?

You may start noticing improvements in blood sugar levels within a few days. However, it may take a few weeks to months to see the full benefits.

Can I stop taking Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet if my blood sugar improves?

No, do not stop taking Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet without consulting your doctor. Stopping the medication abruptly can cause your blood sugar levels to rise again. Forever follow your doctor's instructions.

What should I avoid while taking Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet?

Avoid high-sugar or high-carbohydrate foods, as they can affect blood sugar control; limit alcohol consumption, as it can increase the risk of side effects; and avoid skipping meals, as it may lead to low blood sugar, etc.

What tests should I regularly monitor while taking Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet?

While on Gluconorm-GS 1 Tablet treatment, your doctor may advise you to regularly check fasting and post-meal blood glucose, HbA1c (every 3 months), kidney and liver function tests, vitamin B12 levels, and weight and blood pressure.
