Description:

Gemaben Lotion is an ectoparasiticide medicine. It is used to treat scabies, a condition where tiny insects infest and irritate your skin. It works by killing the mites and their eggs.

Your doctor will explain how to use Gemaben Lotion and how much you need. Read the instructions that come with the medicine to make sure you use it correctly. You should wear synthetic latex gloves to apply the medicine and avoid getting the medicine into your eyes. In case of accidental contact, wash it off immediately with a large amount of water. Generally, it is applied to your whole body except your head, mouth, eyes, and face. Your skin should be clean, dry and cool before using it. After each application, change your clothes, towels, and bedsheets to stop the spread of infection.

The most common side effects include mild burning, stinging, or tingling where the medicine is applied. Most side effects are usually mild and not everyone gets them. Sometimes itching may last for a few weeks after treating scabies. This is probably an allergic reaction to dead mites and not a sign that the treatment has failed.

Earlier using it, you must inform the doctor if you are suffering from any severe chronic disease like cancer or Aids. You should also ask your doctor’s advice before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

FAQs:

What is Gemaben Lotion used for?

Gemaben Lotion is used to treat scabies and to relieve itching and skin irritation associated with sunburn, dry eczema (type of itchy skin rash), dermatitis (red and itchy skin), allergic rashes, hives, nettle rash, chickenpox, heat rashes, personal itching, insect bites and stings.

How should Gemaben Lotion be applied?

You should remove all of the make-up. Wash your hands and the affected area and gently dry. Put a thin layer of Gemaben Lotion cream on the affected skin, using your fingertips. Apply it to the entire area affected by acne, not just each spot. Remember, it is important to wash your hands before and after applying Gemaben Lotion.

Should Gemaben Lotion be left on overnight?

At the beginning of the treatment, Gemaben Lotion is usually used once daily in the evening. The area should not be washed after applying Gemaben Lotion. Leave it overnight unless you experience irritation. However, if you experience irritation, consult your doctor.

What should prompt me to discontinue Gemaben Lotion?

If you experience severe local irritation, which means severe redness, dryness and itching and stinging/burning sensation, discontinue the medicine and consult the doctor.

What precautions should be followed while applying Gemaben Lotion?

Employ Gemaben Lotion only on your skin. Retain it away from your eyes, eyelids, lips, mouth and inside of the nose. If the medicine comes in contact with any of these areas, wash the affected area with water immediately. Avoid using Gemaben Lotion on scratched or eroded skin and open wounds. Take care when using Gemaben Lotion on sensitive areas of skin such as your neck. This is because Gemaben Lotion can make your skin more sensitive to the harmful effects of the sunlight. So, avoid the use of sunbeds/lamps and minimize the time you spend in the sun. You should use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while using Gemaben Lotion. Avoid contact with hair as Gemaben Lotion has strong bleaching properties. Consult your doctor for any other query related to Gemaben Lotion.

How often should I apply Gemaben Lotion?

The initial dose is preferably once daily in the evening. Later, the doctor will gradually increase the dose to twice daily (most probably morning and evening) depending upon the requirement.

How long does Gemaben Lotion take to show its effects?

You may see an improvement after 4-6 weeks of treatment. You may need to use this treatment for a longer duration to gain maximum benefit. Do not worry, this is normal for acne treatments. If your acne does not get better after 1 month or if it gets worse, talk to your doctor immediately.

When can I apply moisturizer, before or after Gemaben Lotion?

You may apply moisturizer an hour after applying Gemaben Lotion. Consult your doctor in case of any doubt or concern.
