Description:

Eplosafe 25mg Tablet is a medicine known as a diuretic (water pill). It is mainly used in the treatment of heart failure and high blood pressure. It is also used to reduce swelling (edema) caused by some other conditions.

Eplosafe 25mg Tablet can be taken with or without food, but you should take it, in the same way, each time to get the most benefit. Taking it with food can reduce some side effects and taking it early in the day can prevent you from having to get up at night to go to the toilet. You should keep using this medicine as it has been prescribed, even if you feel well. If you stop taking it, your condition may get worse. If you are being treated for high blood pressure, lifestyle changes such as taking regular exercise and changes to your diet may increase the effectiveness of this medicine.

No common side effects have been reported with this medicine when used as directed. It is generally well tolerated by most people. However, if you notice any unusual symptoms or discomfort while taking this medicine, consult your doctor for advice.

You should be careful about using Eplosafe 25mg Tablet if you have kidney problems or are unable to urinate. Eplosafe 25mg Tablet allows sodium loss by body in exchange for potassium which is retained. It may result in an increase in the levels of potassium. Therefore, your doctor may monitor your potassium levels continuously. You may need to get it measured before starting Eplosafe 25mg Tablet, within the first week and one month after the start of treatment or after a change in dose. Potassium levels above normal range are not good for you or anyone.

I had been using Losartan for quite some time and was tolerating it well. Now my doctor has prescribed me Eplosafe 25mg Tablet along with Hydrochlorothiazide. I want to know why he just could not add Eplosafe 25mg Tablet with Losartan?

It could be possible that Losartan was not able to control your blood pressure adequately. Therefore, your doctor may have suggested an alternative medicine for blood pressure control (Eplosafe 25mg Tablet), but Eplerenone when taken with Losartan can enhance the chances of raised potassium levels which could be harmful for you. To prevent this rise in potassium levels, the combination of Eplosafe 25mg Tablet with hydrochlorothiazide may have been prescribed.

Is there anything I need to be careful about if I am taking aspirin and have now started Eplosafe 25mg Tablet?

Aspirin may interfere with the working of Eplosafe 25mg Tablet due to which your blood pressure may not get adequately controlled. Aspirin and Eplosafe 25mg Tablet may increase the chances of rise in potassium levels in patients with kidney problems.
