Description:

Eplinora 50mg Tablet is a medicine known as a diuretic (water pill). It is mainly used in the treatment of heart failure and high blood pressure. It is also used to reduce swelling (edema) caused by some other conditions.

Eplinora 50mg Tablet can be taken with or without food, but you should take it, in the same way, each time to get the most benefit. Taking it with food can reduce some side effects and taking it early in the day can prevent you from having to get up at night to go to the toilet. You should keep using this medicine as it has been prescribed, even if you feel well. If you stop taking it, your condition may get worse. If you are being treated for high blood pressure, lifestyle changes such as taking regular exercise and changes to your diet may increase the effectiveness of this medicine.

The common side effects include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, headache, and cough. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Drinking alcohol can increase certain side effects.

You should be careful about using Eplinora 50mg Tablet if you have kidney problems or are unable to urinate. Earlier taking it, tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney, liver, or heart disease or you are pregnant. Also let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are using as they may affect, or be affected by this medicine. This medicine should only be used if it is clearly needed during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. You may need to get it measured before starting Eplinora 50mg Tablet, within the first week and one month after the start of treatment or after a change in dose. Potassium levels above normal range are not good for you or anyone.

Does Eplinora 50mg Tablet have any effect on the blood sugar levels?

Although it is not very common, but Eplinora 50mg Tablet may increase your blood sugar levels. Therefore, it is important that you keep a regular check on your blood sugar levels if you are a diabetic. The use of Eplinora 50mg Tablet should be avoided in patients who have type 2 diabetes along with some kidney problem in which the patient loses protein (albumin) in very small quantities in urine.

I had been using Losartan for quite some time and was tolerating it well. Now my doctor has prescribed me Eplinora 50mg Tablet along with Hydrochlorothiazide. I want to know why he just could not add Eplinora 50mg Tablet with Losartan?

It could be possible that Losartan was not able to control your blood pressure adequately. Therefore, your doctor may have suggested an alternative medicine for blood pressure control (Eplinora 50mg Tablet), but Eplerenone when taken with Losartan can enhance the chances of raised potassium levels which could be harmful for you. To prevent this rise in potassium levels, the combination of Eplinora 50mg Tablet with hydrochlorothiazide may have been prescribed.

Is there anything I need to be careful about if I am taking aspirin and have now started Eplinora 50mg Tablet?

Aspirin may interfere with the working of Eplinora 50mg Tablet due to which your blood pressure may not get adequately controlled.
