Description:

Enterofix Capsule is a probiotic used in the treatment of diarrhea. It works by restoring the balance of good bacteria in the intestine that may get upset after antibiotic use or due to intestinal infections. It also prevents the growth of harmful bacteria and improves the functioning of the digestive system.

Enterofix Capsule may be taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You may also take this medicine along with oral rehydration solution (ORS), as it will help to provide adequate fluid and electrolyte replacement. The dose and duration of the treatment will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should take this medicine until your doctor tells you to stop.

The most common side effects are bloating and flatulence. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects.

Earlier taking this medicine, you should let your doctor know if you have liver or kidney problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor.

FAQs:

What is Enterofix Capsule used for?

Enterofix Capsule is a probiotic medicine used to treat different types of diarrhea, including diarrhea caused by antibiotics, infections, traveler’s diarrhea, irritable bowel disease, and diarrhea linked to Clostridium difficile. It helps restore the natural balance of gut bacteria.

Who should not take Enterofix Capsule?

Individuals should not take Enterofix Capsule if they are allergic to yeast or any of the ingredients present in it, have a central venous catheter, are critically ill, or have a weak immune system.

Can Enterofix Capsule cause serious side effects?

Although they are rare, serious side effects of Enterofix Capsule may include severe allergic reactions such as swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or anaphylaxis. Limited cases of bloodstream infection (fungemia or sepsis) have also been reported in very sick or immunocompromised patients.

Is Enterofix Capsule safe for people with weak immunity?

No. Enterofix Capsule is not recommended for immunocompromised patients or those with central lines (catheters), because it can enter the bloodstream and cause infections.

What should I do if my diarrhea does not improve with Enterofix Capsule?

If your diarrhea continues for more than two days while taking Enterofix Capsule, consult your doctor. You may need further medical evaluation or additional treatment, especially if you are losing fluids quickly.

Does Enterofix Capsule replace rehydration therapy?

No. Enterofix Capsule does not replace rehydration. If you are losing a lot of fluids due to diarrhea, you must drink plenty of water and electrolyte solutions to stay hydrated, as advised by your doctor.

Can Enterofix Capsule cause allergic reactions?

Affirmative. Allergic reactions may happen in some people after taking Enterofix Capsule. Symptoms include skin rash, itching, hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing. Stop taking it and seek medical help immediately if these occur.

Why should Enterofix Capsule not be mixed with very hot or cold drinks?

Enterofix Capsule contains live yeast cells, which can be destroyed by very hot drinks (above 50°C), ice-cold drinks, or alcohol. To keep the probiotics effective, always mix them with room-temperature food or drinks.

Is Enterofix Capsule safe for children?

Affirmative. Enterofix Capsule can be used in both adults and children, but the dose should be followed carefully. However, children with weak immunity, serious illness, or catheters should avoid it.

Can Enterofix Capsule cause infections?

In very rare cases, especially in hospitalized or critically ill patients, Enterofix Capsule has been linked to bloodstream infections. This is why special precautions are taken during handling to prevent contamination.
