Description:

Emlinctus Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat cough. It thins mucus in the nose, windpipe and lungs, making it easier to cough out. It also provides relief from runny nose, watery eyes and throat irritation.

Emlinctus Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are nausea, stomach upset, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, headache, and rash. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine may cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can make dizziness worse.

Never support self-medication or recommend your medicine to another person. It is beneficial to have plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Earlier you start taking this medicine it is important to inform your doctor if you are suffering from liver or kidney disease. You should tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.

Emlinctus Syrup is a combination of four medicines: Ammonium chloride, chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan and guaifenesin which relieves cough. Ammonium chloride and guaifenesin are expectorants which decrease the stickiness of mucus (phlegm) and help in its removal from the airways. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of cough center in the brain.

Affirmative, the use of Emlinctus Syrup can cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips during the day and keep some water by your bed at night. You may use lip balm if your lips are also dry.

Affirmative, the use of Emlinctus Syrup can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, it is better to rest for some time and resume once you feel better.

Communicate to your doctor if vomiting persists and if you notice signs of dehydration, like dark colored and strong-smelling urine and a low frequency of urination.
