Description:

Eltrocib 25mg Tablet is used to treat low platelet count due to chronic immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) or chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It is also used to treat severe aplastic anemia.

Eltrocib 25mg Tablet is a thrombopoietin agonist. It works by stimulating the formation of new platelets in the blood. The function of platelets is to help reduce bleeding.

Take it in the exact dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You may take it on an empty stomach. This medicine is to be swallowed as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Inform your doctor if you have any known allergies to this medication.

The common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, and urinary tract infection. Let your doctor know if any of these side effects bother you. They may be able able to suggest ways to reduce or treat the symptoms.

Earlier you take this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any preexisting medical conditions. Let your doctor also know about all the other medicines you are taking. Dose adjustments may be required in patients with liver diseases, inform your doctor.

This medicine can be stored at room temperature between 20°C to 25°C. Close the bottle tightly and do not remove the desiccant pack if present inside the bottle as it helps to keep the medicine dry.

Eltrocib 25mg Tablet can cause serious side effects like liver problems. The symptoms of liver disease include yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes, pain in the upper right area of the stomach, unusual darkening of the urine, and unusual tiredness. The risk of liver problems increases if the patient is infected with hepatitis C virus or is being treated for it. Taking this medicine may also increase the platelet count in the blood, increasing the risk of developing blood clots. This in turn increases your risk of getting a heart attack or stroke and may prove fatal in some cases. Thoughtlly, regular blood tests are done to monitor the liver functions and platelet count while taking Eltrocib 25mg Tablet. Its use can also worsen cataract, leading to blurring of vision. Consult your doctor immediately if you notice any of the side effects.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Eltrocib 25mg Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Eltrocib 25mg Tablet, you should wait and take your next scheduled dose. Do not take more than one dose of this medicine in a single day. Taking a double dose of this medicine in a single day can increase the risk of side effects.
