Description:

Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule is used in the treatment of angina (heart-related chest pain). It is a combination of two medicines that are helpful in preventing future episodes of angina.

Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule should be taken with food regularly at a fixed time each day. You should take it regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Taking it at the same time every day will help you remember to take it. The dose and duration of treatment will depend on what you are being treated for. Do not stop taking it until you have finished the complete course, even when you feel better. Lifestyle changes like low-fat diet, exercise and not smoking may help this medicine to work better.

Stomach pain, diarrhea, and headache are some common side effects of this medicine. This medicine increases your risk of bleeding, so it is important to be careful while shaving, cutting nails, using sharp objects, or engaging in contact sports (e.g., football, wrestling). It may also produce dizziness initially, avoid driving or attention seeking activity while taking this medicine.

Earlier taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease or bleeding disorder. You must tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. You should also let your healthcare team know all other medicines you are taking as they may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

FAQs:

What is Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule used for?

Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule is used to prevent angina pectoris (heart-related chest pain) in people with coronary artery disease. It is formulated to reduce the frequency of angina attacks and lower the risk of future heart attacks and strokes.
Can I take Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule when I am having an angina attack?

No, Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule is not for immediate relief of an ongoing angina attack. It works too slowly for that. This medicine is a long-term, preventive treatment that you must take every day to reduce the number of angina attacks you have. For an acute attack, you will need a faster-acting medication.
I get a headache when I take Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule. Is that normal?

Affirmative, a headache is a very common side effect of Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule, especially when you first start taking this medication. This is because the isosorbide mononitrate component in Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule widens the blood vessels, including those in your head. This side effect usually lessens or goes away completely as your body gets used to the medication over a few days.
Does Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule increase my risk of bleeding?

yes, the aspirin component of Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule thins the blood, which can increase your risk of bleeding. You should be extra careful when shaving, using sharp objects, or playing contact sports. Let your doctor and dentist know you are taking this medication before any surgical or dental procedures.

Can I stop taking Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule if I feel better and my chest pain is gone?

No, you must not stop taking Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule suddenly without talking to your doctor first. This is a long-term preventive treatment. Stopping it abruptly could increase your risk of having a heart attack or severe angina attacks.
What should I tell my doctor before I start taking Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule?

Earlier you start taking Ecosmin 30 mg/75 mg Capsule, it is very important to inform your doctor if you have a history of bleeding disorders, stomach ulcers, severe anemia, or liver or kidney disease.
