Description:

Desopra 30mg Capsule is a medicine that reduces the amount of acid produced in your stomach. It is used for treating acid-related diseases of the stomach and intestine such as heartburn, acid reflux, and some other stomach conditions associated with excessive acid production.

You should take Desopra 30mg Capsule as your doctor advises. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for, but it should be the lowest dose for the shortest amount of time needed to treat your condition. It should be given as an injection into the vein by a healthcare professional. It may take up to a few weeks to work properly but your doctor will tell you how long you need to be taking it for. You should keep on taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms disappear quickly. If you are taking this medicine for a long time, your doctor may carry out regular tests to check your levels of magnesium which can fall with this medicine.

Ordinary side effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and feeling or being sick. These tend to be mild but talk to your doctor if they bother you or do not go away. Alcohol does not interfere with the way Desopra 30mg Capsule works. However, drinking alcohol makes your stomach produce more acid than normal. This medicine can make you feel dizzy, sleepy, or affect your vision. If this happens, do not drive, cycle or use machinery or tools until you feel better. It is not usually recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Desopra 30mg Capsule acts by decreasing the acid produced in the stomach and relieves the symptoms of GERD.

Can Desopra 30mg Capsule cause calcium deficiency and osteoporosis?

Desopra 30mg Capsule can cause osteoporosis (thinning of bones) as it decreases the calcium absorption leading to calcium deficiency. This leads to an increased risk of bone fractures on long-term use, like hip, wrist or spine fractures. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids (these can increase the risk of osteoporosis) before starting your therapy. Consult your doctor on ways to prevent this. Your doctor may advise you calcium or vitamin D supplements to reduce the risk.

Can Desopra 30mg Capsule cause diarrhea?

Affirmative, Desopra 30mg Capsule may cause diarrhea as a side effect in some people. This is usually not bothersome, but if you experience persistent watery stools that do not go away, along with stomach cramps and fever, get medical help immediately.
