Description:

Betadine AD Shampoo is an antiseptic and disinfectant agent used for the prevention and treatment of wound infection. It helps treat infections of the scalp associated with dandruff, itching, scaling, and redness of the scalp.

Betadine AD Shampoo is for external use only. You should use it in the dose and duration as directed by your doctor. Apply sufficient amount onto the scalp and massage it well. Consent it to remain on the scalp for about 5 minutes before washing it off. Employ it regularly to get the maximum benefit from the medicine.

Employ of this medicine may cause burning, irritation, itching, and redness at the site of application. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. You should stop using it if you have any signs of an allergic reaction. Signs of this include rash, hives, itching, shortness of breath, cough, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat.

This medicine should not be used in children under two years of age. Earlier taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

Can I put Betadine AD Shampoo on an open wound?

Betadine AD Shampoo can be used as an antiseptic to treat or prevent infections in wounds such as ulcers, small burns or cuts, and other minor injuries. However, take special care if you are applying Betadine AD Shampoo on open large wounds or where the skin is broken like burns. The reason being there may be a risk of excessive absorption of iodine in the blood which may increase to toxic levels.

Will Betadine AD Shampoo solution stain my skin or clothes?

Betadine AD Shampoo has a natural golden brown color which stains the area where you have applied it. It does not however, permanently stain your skin and fingernails. The stain can be easily removed from your clothes with soap and water.

Where can Betadine AD Shampoo be used?

Betadine AD Shampoo is used in the treatment and prevention of infection in wounds including cuts, small areas of burn, ulcers and minor injuries. Do not use this medicine on deep wounds and clean surgical wounds.

How should Betadine AD Shampoo solution be applied to an injury?

Immaculate the affected area and apply a small amount of the medicine to it. You can then cover it with a sterile bandage. You can apply this medicine 1 to 3 times daily. However, do not use it for longer than 1 week.

Can Betadine AD Shampoo affect thyroid function?

Using Betadine AD Shampoo over a large area or for a long time may sometimes cause problems with your thyroid. Symptoms of thyroid dysfunction include weight loss, increased appetite, sweating, lack of energy, and weight gain. If you notice such symptoms, contact your doctor who may advise you to stop using Betadine AD Shampoo.
