Description:

Atorva tablet is a lipid-lowering medicine. It contains atorvastatin as an active ingredient, commonly known as 'Statins'. Atorvastatin in Atorva 10 decreases the synthesis of cholesterol in the body. This medicine inhibits the enzymes responsible for the formation of cholesterol. You should take Atorva as advised by your doctor in the prescribed doses, at a fixed time to gain optimum benefits. Take the medicine before going to bed. Avoid consuming high fat, fried and junk meals and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle to gain the most benefits along with Atorva 10 tablet.

Uses:

In High cholesterol
Atorva Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called statins. It works by reducing the amount of “bad” cholesterol (LDL) and raising the amount of “good” cholesterol (HDL) in your blood. Lowering the amount of cholesterol reduces the chances of heart diseases and helps you remain healthier for longer.
Take it regularly and make appropriate lifestyle changes (such as eating healthy and staying active) to maximize the effectiveness of this medicine. Keep taking it even if you feel well.

In Prevention of Heart attack
High levels of cholesterol can cause your blood vessels to narrow (atherosclerosis) and put you at risk of having a stroke or heart disease. Lowering the amount of this fat reduces the chances of this happening and helps you remain healthier for longer. Keep taking this medicine even if you feel well.

Directions For Use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Atorva Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Warning & Precautions:

This medicine should not be used in some conditions such as liver disease. Also, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should not take this medicine as it may harm the developing baby. Diabetic patients should monitor their blood sugar levels while taking this medicine, as it may lead to an increase in blood sugar levels. Your doctor may check your liver function before starting the treatment and monitor it regularly thereafter.

FAQs:

Q. What should I know about high cholesterol?
Cholesterol is a type of fat present in your blood. Total cholesterol is determined by the total amount of LDL and HDL cholesterol in the body. LDL cholesterol is called “bad” cholesterol. Bad cholesterol can build up in the wall of your blood vessels and slow or obstruct blood flow to your heart, brain, and other organs. This can cause heart disease and stroke. HDL cholesterol is called “good” cholesterol as it prevents the bad cholesterol from building up in the blood vessels. High levels of triglycerides are also harmful to you.

Q. Can Atorva Tablet cause muscle problems or muscle injury?
Yes, taking Atorva Tablet can cause muscle problems or muscle injury. This is because of the reduced oxygen supply to the muscle cells which leads to fatigue, muscle pain, tenderness, or muscle weakness. The soreness may be significant enough to interfere with your daily activities. Do not take it lightly and consult your doctor to know about ways to prevent this and to avoid making it worse.

Q. Is Atorva Tablet used for lowering cholesterol?
Atorva Tablet belongs to a group of medicines known as statins, which lowers the level of lipids or fats. Atorva Tablet is used to lower lipids known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood when a low-fat diet and lifestyle changes fail to lower the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides. If you are at an increased risk of heart disease, Atorva Tablet can also be used to reduce such risk even if your cholesterol levels are normal. You should maintain a standard cholesterol-lowering diet during treatment.

Q. Can Atorva Tablet be prescribed to children?
Atorva Tablet is for adults and children aged 10 years or more whose cholesterol levels do not come down enough with exercise and a low-fat diet. It is not approved for use in patients younger than 10 years old.
