Description:

Atokem 18mg Capsule is a medicine used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (a behavioral disorder in children marked by poor concentration, hyperactivity, and learning difficulties). It helps to improve attention span, concentration and reduces impulsive behavior.

Atokem 18mg Capsule may be taken with or without food. It is advised to take this medicine at a fixed time each day to maintain a consistent level in the blood. If you miss any doses, take it as soon as you remember. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication mustn't be stopped suddenly as it may worsen your symptoms.

Some common side effects of this medicine include headache, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, increased heart rate, and high blood pressure. However, these side effects are temporary and usually resolve on their own in some time. Please consult your doctor if these do not subside or bother you. This medicine causes dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you.

Earlier taking Atokem 18mg Capsule, inform your doctor if you have any problems with your kidneys, heart, liver, or have a history of seizures (epilepsy or fits). Inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood or behavior, new or worsening depression, or if you have any suicidal thoughts. This medicine may increase your blood pressure, so it is better to monitor it regularly and consult your doctor if it is bothersome.

Can I give Atokem 18mg Capsule to my 3-year-old child?

No Atokem 18mg Capsule should only be used in children 6 years and older.

When to take Atokem 18mg Capsule?

This medicine is usually taken one or two times a day (early morning and late afternoon/early evening). If you find that you are sleepy during the day talk to your doctor about the best time to take your medicine.
