Sompraz D 40 capsule is an anti-reflux medicine. It is a combination medication containing domperidone and esomeprazole as the main components. It is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which does not respond to esomeprazole medication alone. GERD occurs due to acid reflux (burning pain or discomfort in the chest). Sompraz D capsule works by reducing the production of digestive acids in the stomach and increasing the motility of the stomach and intestines; thus, acid does not reflux back into the food pipe. Sompraz D 40 capsule should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. It should be taken at least an hour before the meal as prescribed by your doctor. While taking this medicine, avoid consuming food that can increase your acidity, avoid lying down after a meal and take your last meal at least two hours before your bedtime. Along with taking medicine on time, making certain lifestyle modifications can help to manage your acidity problem better. Try eating smaller meals, eating slowly and avoiding overeating and lying down immediately after having a meal. Limit your intake of alcohol, avoid smoking and maintain a healthy weight. Consult the doctor to understand what works for you best.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic (long-term) condition in which there is an excess production of acid in the stomach. Sompraz D 40 Capsule SR reduces the amount of acid your stomach makes and relieves the pain associated with heartburn and acid reflux. You should take it exactly as it is prescribed for it to be effective.

Some simple lifestyle changes can help reduce the symptoms of GERD. Think about what foods trigger heartburn and try to avoid them; eat smaller, more frequent meals; try to lose weight if you are overweight and try to find ways to relax. Do not eat within 3-4 hours of going to bed.

In Treatment of Functional dyspepsia
Functional dyspepsia is another term for indigestion that is not associated with a specific cause. It may cause symptoms such as an early feeling of fullness after eating, stomach pain or discomfort, nausea, and bloating. Sompraz D 40 Capsule SR helps treat these symptoms by increasing the rate of stomach emptying. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully and make appropriate lifestyle changes to get maximum benefit.
