Description:

Anodox 125mg Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that is given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections targeting the skin, throat, and tonsils. It may also be prescribed as a second line of treatment for urinary tract infections.

Anodox 125mg Syrup may be given with or without food. However, if your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. The dose and duration of the medicine will depend on the type and severity of the infection. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it is almost time for the next dose.

Anodox 125mg Syrup may cause some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. Usually, these subside once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor immediately.

Inform the doctor about your child’s complete medical history, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problems, blood disorders, birth defects, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problems, skin disorders, or liver and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

FAQs:

Q. What if I overdose my child by mistake?

A single extra dose of Anodox 125mg Syrup is unlikely to do any harm. However, if you think you have given too much of Anodox 125mg Syrup to your child, immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition.

Q. Can Anodox 125mg Syrup cause any serious side effects?

Affirmative, Anodox 125mg Syrup may rarely cause some serious side effects. These include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, severe diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Forever consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.

Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Anodox 125mg Syrup?

Anodox 125mg Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Anodox 125mg Syrup. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Anodox 125mg Syrup?

Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.

Q. Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Anodox 125mg Syrup on a long-term basis?

The doctor may prescribe kidney and liver function tests periodically to keep a check on your child’s condition.

Q. My child has a runny nose and I can see yellow-green color mucus oozing out from my child’s nose. What does it indicate?

During a common cold, it is normal for mucus to thicken up and change from clear to yellow or green. This color change of mucus does not necessarily indicate the need for antibiotics. These symptoms often last for 7-10 days. However, if the symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Q. Can Anodox 125mg Syrup impact my child’s digestive system?

Children generally have a sensitive stomach, and they may develop a stomach upset while taking medicines. Anodox 125mg Syrup is an antibiotic and its use may affect or compromise the good bacteria in their gastrointestinal tract. It may kill off the good bacteria along with the bad and increase the risk of developing other infections. In case your child is having diarrhea while on Anodox 125mg Syrup, do not abruptly stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to ask about the next steps. The doctor may suggest an alternative dose to reduce the chances of such side effects.

Q. Can Anodox 125mg Syrup lead to bacterial resistance in my child?

Affirmative, irregular treatment, repeated use, and misuse of Anodox 125mg Syrup can lead to bacterial resistance. This means that whenever next required, the same antibiotic may not be effective, and a different antibiotic may be needed for your child, which too may not work or cause increased side-effects.
